Freelancing with Kids, Part 1One reason to love freelancing is the workday flexibility, which means that many freelancers in two-parent households end up with the bulk of child-care responsibilities. For me, the answer was full-time day care and an occasional dose of bribery, as in "I'll give you extra TV time if you stay quiet while I do this interview." But I've seen freelancers successfully manage almost any combination of child care, work, and family you can imagine. Sadly, many Web sites that are aimed at working-at-home parents seem to be about multi-level marketing schemes instead. One that isn't aggressively trying to recruit folks for the downline is Bizy Moms. AllFreelance.com has a guide to handling children's sick days. From the other side of the pond comes this article on freelancing with kids. Email This Post |
