A: I spoke to a writer I know who works a lot with trade publications and press releases. "I think it's a great idea to promote your company's work to trade magazines. The best thing to do would be to email some lower-rung editors (assistant, associate, etc...) a press release and follow up with a phone call a day later. At my magazine, my editor in chief gets so much crap in his email...it's better if people email things to me (I'm the associate editor) and then I'll act as kind of a gatekeeper and then pass the info along to him."
