In Praise Of: Index Cards

indedcards.jpgFreelance Jen Miller shares with us the latest thing that's been improving her freelance life:

This year, I started using a low tech way to keep track of ideas: index cards. I made up labels that have both the current month and what month I should be pitching (i.e. the first label says Jan/Oct). I also have a section for evergreen ideas that I need to pitch and ones that have been pitched.

It's helped me remember all those ideas that pop into my head. Instead of writing them on slips of paper that usually get lost, they're filed for me to go through when I need to pitch.

Has there been a system, program, tool or plugin that's improved your life as a writer/editor? Let me know what it is and why it's so great.
