Tip Jar TK
This is a TK feature where readers (hopefully) send in any little tidbits of information they have gleaned from working with various editors and publications. Anonymous if they like. But just the little "FYI" stuff that's always good to know. For instance... House and Garden: The editor there hates the word "hydrangea." Don't use it. Esquire: I worked with editor so-and-so and he got irate when I turned in a piece written in Times New Roman. Only use Courier New!! When you write for the New York Times, they really prefer it if you use accurate quotes and real sources. I freelanced for Dog Fancy and found out they hate it when you use the word "pooch" instead of 'dog' or whatever. |
