Transcript: Radio Rookies: Landing a Job in Talk Radio

radiomic.jpgExclusive for AvantGuild members (but I’ll give you a little taste), Sirius Radio host Jason Page shows you the best way to enter the industry.

Jason Page: I want you to write me a cover letter. And keep in mind, keep it brief, the elements and points, what do you think would be some of the biggest elements you want to touch on on the cover letter? And if there’s anything I know about, and not to toot my own horn, but I’m going to. If there’s anything I know a lot about, it’s writing cover letters. And it’s interviewing. Because I’ve done both of them a million times cause I’ve had a zillion jobs in this business. That’s the one thing by going year to year to year to year at a place, I’ve interviewed with all these different types of people. And now I work for some of the top programmers in the country, really, in the country. So I know what they’re looking for and I know what they want to hear. So that being said, what do you think the most important thing that you want to see in a cover letter is? What do you think a PD wants to see?
