I know this is more the stuff of Miz Galleycat but via Maud, I read about Random House finding its newest hot author working in its mail room.

Why is it always the mail room, where people are discovered or from where they work their way up? Why is it never the front desk, or the janitor's closet, or the security desk? There is something shady going on with the mail room.
