Jim Cramer: My First Big Break

mediabistrotv_1

You may know him for his stock-picking strategies, staying ahead of the bulls, and out of the way of the bears. But Jim Cramer‘s big break happened far from Wall Street, in Tallahassee, Florida, at a sorority house, which became the scene of a grisly crime at the hands of a notorious serial killer.

Following his humble start as a newspaper reporter, along the way Cramer became a magazine writer, a lawyer, a hedge-fund manager, an online publisher and a best-selling author. And he did it all while honoring his parents’ wishes. Here’s Jim Cramer’s First Big Break.

Shepard Smith, ‘What’s Your Show?’

Shepard Smith has been a part of Fox News since there has been a Fox News. But the longtime anchor took on a new challenge late last year: hosting a high-octane newscast from a futuristic (yet functional) studio without compromising the mission: report the news, first and fair. So, what does that take to accomplish every day?

In the first edition of the MediabistroTV series “What’s Your Show?” Smith and his team take us behind the scenes of “Shepard Smith Reporting.”

Look for upcoming episodes of “What’s Your Show?” from MSNBC, Al Jazeera America and more. And to watch more MediabistroTV videos, subscribe to our YouTube channel and follow us on Twitter: @mediabistroTV.

Brian Williams: My First Big Break

MediabistroTV debuts a new series today, “My First Big Break” where we talk to media heavyweights about that break that got them to where they are today. Our first episode features Brian Williams, the anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News.” You know what he’s doing now, and you may know a bit about his past. But did you know he went bankrupt? That he lost his car? Or that he became a chyron operator after failing in small market TV? Williams tells us who gave him his First Big Break, and how it changed the course of his career.
