We’ve just about seen everything but this is certainly a first in terms of hiring. Now that marijuana is legal in Colorado, is it really such a surprise that CannaSearch, a cannabis-related job fair, emerged?
According to local station KUSA in Denver, last month hundreds of job seekers stood in line for more than an hour to pursue a variety of opportunities.
Yes, you read that right — a marijuana industry-related job fair. Several marijuana-related employers attended to recruit candidates for their plethora of jobs. And when we say candidates we mean to the tune of 1,240 attendees!
As per the piece, Tim Cullen of O.PenVape explained, “We are actually hiring all across the board. We’re looking for receptionists, front of the house people, bud tenders, managers…and there are new opportunities. There are lots of sales positions [as well as] marketing, the bookkeeping the legal team, CPAs there’s a lot of behind the scenes that the public doesn’t actually see.”
He mentioned that people are “excited about cannabis” and in turn, the piece noted that some people moved to Denver for new job opportunities in the industry of legalized marijuana. Per the clip, attire ranged from jeans and a t-shirt to business suit.
According to a press release, although people did travel from quite a distance to attend the job fair, smoking pot was indeed prohibited from the fair itself.
Cullen explained, “I think that would be inappropriate to come in and apply for a job while under the influence. I would strongly encourage people to not be out there drinking either.”
