Earnings Season Already? NBCU Profits Down

NBCU turned a healthy profit of $625 million in the third quarter of 2010, General Electric, which owns 80 percent of the company, announced today. That profit, however, was down 15 percent from a year prior, and revenues were essentially flat at $4.01 billion.

In the conference call following the earnings report, GE chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt said he was sure the NBCU-Comcast merger would go forward. “We’re expecting the NBC deal to close in the 4th quarter,” he said.

Variety reports that the highest-performing stations at NBC Universal were USA, Bravo, Oxygen, and CNBC.
