Guys, we gotta talk. Marketing yourself doesn't have to hurt.

When you're trying to make yourself stand out amongst the three million other people applying for a job, the first thing you don't do is run out and buy an expensive leather portfolio (or a clear plastic binder, for that matter). And you shouldn't embark in some crazy expensive gimmicky self-marketing project.

We've just been reintroduced to the greatest piece of advertising on the planet—this thing was a staple of our childhood TV-watching experience, it's rather terrifying, and—most importantly—the company is still in business, probably in no small part thanks to this ad.

The point is, you don't need a huge budget to be memorable. You need to not take yourself super seriously, to show what you can do, and you totally need a guy in a costume.
