The Washington Post is NOT backtracking...
But the right wing media is desperately trying to defend itself here.
Remember, the FBI investigation could turned up nothing -- and that gives a lot more credence to the escort's statement now that she was paid to make the story up.
This appears to have been a hatchet job by a right wing writer at Daily Caller, who is now at Brietbart.

If it were, would we have had the war in Iraq? NO!
And patriots like you couldn't crow about supporting the troops from the comfort of your homes.

it's just as easy for a whoremonger to get his "companion" to read a script as the other way around. Unless you can conclusively prove Menendez did not engage in the alleged activities then there still is the possibility. And whom do you suppose might be behind that???

If ANYONE here knows about the ins and outs, the ups and downs, the back and forth of paying for sex and companionship, it is brave cruiser.

Ignoring facts and staying with the information we're told to think by Rush, Hannity, Coulter, Savage et al is vital in a case like this.
If facts start to waver, hold the line. Declare that "democrats like prosties" with no evidence of same. It's just patriotic.
And sock puppetry? I thinkerate someone has his hand up something other than a sock when you post. A hand that is shoved deep and brings forth talking points needed to divert the argument from reality to the goal you need to reach.
A patriot "taking" one for the team. Has to hurt though.
