Google Android's Built-in Apps (based on rumors)I'll admit it. I am really looking forward to seeing what the Google Android phone is all about and plan to pre-order one in September if the rumors are true (that T-Mobile USA will take pre-orders in September). The Android Guys blog collected the various rumors floating around and put together a spec sheet. Here's my take on the app-related information. More G1 Specs Than You Can Shake a Stick At! UPDATE - App space might be tight if the first gPhone only has 64MB of system RAM. Memory management, process management, and efficient programming will be the key. - Having a trackball in addition to an accelerometer should give game developers the ability to make very interesting games. Developers of conventional apps should be able to make it a more single-hand friendly device that most touch screen devices (like the iPhone or Windows Mobile Professional Edition). - It has a dedicated YouTube player like the Apple iPhone. So, it looks like the browser does not support Adobe Flash - Built in support for AIM, MSN, YAHOO, and GTALK instant messengers. I think this is the first phone support I've seen for Google Talk. But, that makes sense, coming from Google. - It syncs with Google Calendar. But, what about contacts? Does it sync with the Gmail contacts list? I want my PIM (Personal Information Management) data to live (securely) in the clouds. I don't want to need to sync with a desktop or notebook except for backing up data from the cloud. - Google Street-viwe with compass. Nice. - Android Marketplace content download. Sounds like iTunes. I hope it is as easy to use and purchase from as Apple's iTunes is. If not, it fails. Email This Post | ||||
