The Case of the Missing Starbucks T-Mobile Hotspots (Solved)
I haven't been able to use the T-Mobile hotspots at various local Starbucks for the past two weeks or so. Hotspots in these same Starbucks locations worked fine last month. So, I was really puzzled. And, yes, I know Starbucks is in a transition period where T-Mobile is handing off hotspot management to AT&T Wireless. However, T-Mobile customers should be able to use these hotspots for another 4.5 years. Today while standing in a nearby Starbucks, I decided to call T-Mobile's HotSpot customer support line. After I was handed off to a second level support person, turned out that although T-Mobile said that SSID was being broadcast, it was, in fact, not being broadcast. Yes, I know I should have tried that first. But, after all these years, I simply expected to see the familiar tmobile SSID broadcast in the clear as usual. FYI: There was not any AT&T Wireless SSID I could see at these Starbucks locations either. So, if you've been having problems using T-Mobile or AT&T Wireless hotspots at your local Starbucks, you may need to manually create a WiFi profile and type in the tmobile SSID yourself like I did.
