"American Idol" fans can take more of their Idol favorites with them on their iPhone or iPod. According to Macworld, Fox is making the performances - both audio and video - from all 24 AI semifinalists available for download from iTunes the day after the shows air.

As is typical for iTunes, the music tracks cost 99 cents each and the videos, which will be available for the top 12 finalists starting March 11, will go for $1.99 each. If you don't want to wait to purchase the downloads, iTunes will let you pre-order the performances of your faves and have them downloaded automatically the day after their broadcast. We're not sure what happens if the Idol wannabe whose songs you pre-order gets booted off the show, though.

Macworld also cites a Variety report that says the iPhone is going to be named the show's official handset. That's not too hard to imagine, since AT&T is the mobile carrier whose customers get to text in their votes for who should become the next Idol.
