AT&T to Boost Content StreamingAT&T said on Tuesday it wants to expand its business of delivering online media, according to Reuters, moving to compete more directly with specialized content delivery companies such as Akamai Technologies and Limelight Networks. Currently it counts AccuWeather.com and Forbes.com among its client roster, both of which have significant mobile components. The carrier said that it wants to do more deals like this. So in order to support the expansion, AT&T said it plans to spend $70 million by the end of the year to strengthen its network infrastructure in the U.S., Europe, and parts of Asia.
