CTIA: $23 billion in Data Services Revenue in 2007
CTIA - The Wireless Association took advantage of its own conference to release some numbers from an industry survey.
As of December 2007, the U.S. had more than 255 million wireless users, up more than 22 million from a year earlier. In case you're wondering, that's more than 84% of the U.S. population.
The survey also tracked 2007 wireless data services revenue at $23 billion, up 53% from $15.2 billion in 2006.
December alone saw more than 48 billion text messages, which works out to 1.6 billion - yes billion - per day. That's an increase of 157% year-over-year.
