Some product announcements are just too amusing to ignore - especially for a woman who's quite familiar with a certain category of man. You know the type, the one who still thinks that "real men don't ask for directions" but must have all the newest gadgets.

If the stereotype feels at all familiar, if the new hybrid GPS phones and all those mapping services that can be downloaded to your iPhone or BlackBerry fill you or someone you know with a sense of confusion, take heart.

A British Web site called IWOOT (I Want To Own That) has come out with "Sat Nag," a new gizmo that looks like a real GPS screen but delivers a unique brand of navigational commands. According to Pocket-lint, the "directions," spoken by a woman in a patronizing tone of course, include such commands as "in 40 meters I'm going to put on my most annoying voice and say 'Is your shortcut really faster when we get stuck in traffic like this, well, is it darling?'"

Roads displayed on the maps have backseat-driver names like Whiny Lane and Earache Avenue.
