Hands-Free Law a Boon for Mobile Vendors
Several states—including CT, NY, and NJ—currently have laws that require drivers to use a hands-free device while talking on the phone. As MediaPost reports, California and Washington will have similar laws starting on July 1, and now, "hands-free marketing and advertising campaigns from LG Mobile to Ford Motor Co. and Microsoft seek to stop consumers from driving under the influence of mobile phones." We can vouch for this—in the past few weeks, we've seen about twenty bazillion press releases from handset vendors, bluetooth headset manufacturers, and mobile app developers all touting the new hands-free law theme, and how their products are a great fit for it. Some of the more notable promotions include LG, which recently gave away 1,000 Bluetooth headsets at the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA, the report said. Also, Headsets.com will send consumers a free headset after July 1st "if they are cited for driving while talking or texting on a cell phone." Parrot is also launching several campaigns to promote both their European Bluetooth headsets as well as their hands-free speakerphone-style devices. Email This Post |
