iPhone OS 3.0 Update for iPod touch Changes: iPhone Update Weirdness Caused me to Postpone Updating the touchThe iPhone OS 3.0 update is getting a lot of press regarding the iPhone itself. But, you don't see much about the update for the iPod touch. So, I thought I'd talk a bit about that here even though I haven't updated my iPod touch yet (I talk about this a bit more later). While the OS 3.0 update is free for the iPhone (I updated my 3G), it costs $9.95 for iPod touch owners. Here's what you get for $9.95: - Buy movies, TV shows & audio books over a WiFi connection So, why haven't I updated my 1st generation iPod touch to get this update goodness? I updated my iPhone 3G and found that I could no longer manually manage media after the OS 3.0 update. This meant I was forced to sync either everything or selected playlists. I couldn't simply copy and drag an album or selected songs or podcasts from iTunes to the iPhone 3G after the update. I verified that I can still do this with my iPod touch running OS 2.2.1. So, I'm going to postpone updating my iPod touch until I learn more about the effects on my iPhone 3G. Email This Post |
