Alltel Gets to the 'Root of All Evil' with Texting
It may not be as big as AT&T's deal for text-message voting with "American Idol," but it's still a pretty good deal for Alltel Wireless. The operator has snagged its first text voting sponsorship with Comedy Central's upcoming debate series "Lewis Black's Root of All Evil," according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Evil," which Black produces, hosts and moderates, sounds like it will be quite different from high school debate clubs and those political debates that have been impossible to miss as of late. Instead of the usual topics, the new show is tackling such pressing issues as "Oprah Winfrey vs. the Catholic Church, Paris Hilton vs. Dick Cheney and Donalt Trump vs. Viagra," the Hollywood Reporter says. Since the show will be taped in advance of its broadcast, Black will make his own ruling. However, viewers will be invited to text in their choice for the debate winner during the show, with the results appearing on-screen at the end of the broadcast. The eight-episode series debuts March 12. Email This Post |
