Mobile applications and services provider MobiVentures is buying Purepromoter, a UK-based e-mail and SMS marketing solutions provider. The $7.8 million acquisition is expected to close by the end of April. MobiVentures has secured $2 million in financing from Trafalgar Capital Specialized Investment Fund to help fund the acquisition.

Pure has some 700 clients using its e-mail, MMS and SMS marketing services including the Financial Times, Economist Conferences, Barclaycard, Pepsi, O2 and Red Bull.

MobiVentures appears to be on an acquisition spree. It recently signed an agreement to buy wireless incubator Move2Mobile and plans on "aggressively pursuing similarly accretive and complementary acquisitions over the next 12-18 months," according to MobiVentures director Nigel Nicholas.
