Pownce Could Enter MP3 Player Market
Daniel Burka, co-founder of the social networking site Pownce, is setting the pundits a-twitter by posting a screenshot teaser (above) of an upcoming service, TechCrunch reports. It appears that if you stare at the shot, you can see a search box, an upload link, and the words "Artist" and "Playlist," which all seem to indicate that the company is developing its own MP3 player. The report said that a new player could allow users to upload batches of audio files and share them with friends as mixtapes, which would put the service in competition with mobile music sites like Muxtape, Mixwit, Mixaloo, and Imeem—and it would also propel Pownce further in the "file sharing" direction, instead of in the Twitter-clone direction.
