Roo Group Buys Mobile Video DistributorThe troubled online video firm Roo Group says it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Kamera, a Swedish provider of mobile video, according to MocoNews. Those aren't household names here in the U.S. But to put the deal in perspective, Kamera claims distribution partnerships with Vodafone, MSN, Orange, Telefonica, O2, Hutchinson and China Mobile, the report said. The company "was formerly a unit of World Television, but was bought out by management and outside investors in 2005." A lot of deals like this happen underneath the surface with regard to mobile, as everyone races to control more of the "pipes" powering online video, mobile advertising, and other services across multiple carriers and markets. According to the report, Kamera did revenue of $2.9 million in 2007, is forecasting revenue of $5.6 million for 2008, and is currently running at a "very small" loss. Email This Post | |||||||||||
