AT&T to Launch Firefox-Based Browser
"Pogo is built on the Mozilla Firefox browser, and the free, potentially ad-supported application is not geared toward the tech-savvy digerati. AT&T is aiming for the everyday users of the Web with Pogo—a factor that pits it head-to-head with Microsoft's Internet Explorer." Both AT&T and Vizible execs said that their goal is not to start another browser war. "We're trying to improve the way people find, collect, organize and manage info on the Web," said Todd Finch, president and CEO of Toronto-based Vizible, in ther report. "Humans are visual, and Pogo adds a visual layer to the browsing experience that's intuitive to use." As cool as that graphic looks, we can't exactly see something that tiny working on a cell phone screen. But since there's already a mobile version of Firefox in the works, it would be interesting to see if AT&T exerts any influence on the mobile side for their own handsets. Email This Post |
