Proteus Upgrades Mobile Publishing Platform
At the CTIA Wireless 2008 conference in Las Vegas this week, Proteus announced upgrades to its mobile Web site publishing platform, Swift: - Users can now send SMS and email messages to announce the launch of their mobile sites directly from the Swift administration tool, and visitors to a Swift mobile site can send an SMS or email note to friends with a direct link to that site. - Each Swift user now has access to a widget for use on his/her traditional Web site that prompts visitors to enter a phone number to receive a link to the mobile version of the site or content via SMS message. - Minor upgrades include automatic image and photo re-sizing, the ability to assign a custom domain name, graphical reporting tools, new logo options that allow for text-based and hyperlinked logos, and feed optimization for faster importing and display. Proteus's mobile client roster includes FOX, HBO, Disney, NBC Universal, ABC, National Geographic, Scripps Networks and The Washington Post, as well as AT&T, MasterCard, Motorola, Volvo and Hasbro. These efforts are helping to stabilize and consolidate mobile Web development, since it's a much more fractured landscape than developing for, say, desktop sites to work in Internet Explorer or Firefox.
