A CTIA keynote address by Yahoo executive VP Marco Boerries turned out to be a platform for unveiling the company's new mobile search strategy, CNET's News.com reports.

The centerpiece of the strategy is version 2.0 of Yahoo OneSearch, which adds voice-activated searching and search results that deliver "instant answers to any query, not just Web links," Boerries said.
Yahoo is also reportedly planning to add an "idle screen search service" that would let users access OneSearch without having to launch a phone's Web browser.

So far, only a few BlackBerry models can use the voice activation, with support for more phones coming soon. Vlingo, a start-up that counts Yahoo as the lead investor in its recent $20 million funding round, developed the voice-activation technology.
