Amp'd Mobile, a mobile media-focused carrier that was nearing the 200,000 subscriber mark, filed for Chapter 11 on Friday.

Amp'd offer'd a fairly compelling product, with dozens of TV channels and exclusive programming available on a slew of decent handsets. The company stated in their bankruptcy announcement that they "couldn't keep up with the growth," but as Engadget points out, that's a pretty tenuous claim to make -- particularly since they went through, oh, $360 million in venture capital.

This might not be the end of the company, depending on how the re-organization goes. But if we were subscribers, we'd be thinking about other carriers right about now.
