AOL UK Launches Mobile PortalAOL UK announced the launch of AOL Mobile, a new mobile web portal promising advanced functionality and a "real" Internet-quality user interface closely aligned with the desktop PC experience, according to a FierceMobileContent report. This brings it in line with mobile efforts already in existence from Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft. "In addition to pulling sports, news and entertainment content directly from AOL.co.uk, all of it configured to the individual user handset, the AOL Mobile portal includes features like Web Surf, Mail and Search," the report said. "The service stores user favorites and recent requests, with tabbed navigation and intuitive menus enabling users to scroll through the applications and content with a minimum number of clicks." As Google continues to capture desktop search market share -- 58.5% of all global searches, as the latest report indicated -- the other top-tier search portals are struggling to stay relevant. Those efforts extend to the mobile space as well. AOL UK debuts mobile web portal [FierceMobileContent] Email This Post |
