AT&T to Amend Terms of ServiceAT&T is finally bowing to customer pressure about censorship and will amend its terms of service, Gizmodo is reporting. This is in response to last week's story about how AT&T was reserving the right to censor bloggers and other Internet posters who were critical of the company. Gizmodo hasn't received the final TOS language yet. But AT&T just wrote them saying that the TOS will indeed change: "We are revising the terms of service to clarify our intent. The language in question will be revised to reflect AT&T's respect for our customers' right to express opinions and concerns over any matter they wish. And we will make clear that we do not terminate service because a customer expresses their opinion about AT&T." It goes without saying that this is how AT&T should have responded the first time. Their original answer, which was to claim that they're not censoring anyone while leaving everything intact, was laughable. AT&T Speech-Limiting TOS Is Getting Amended [Gizmodo] Email This Post |
