RCR Wireless News is reporting that Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton and John Edwards have all added a mobile component to their 2008 campaigns.

RCR Wireless columnist Julie Ask posted an impressive and detailed analysis of each mobile campaign, noting that the three contenders are the only ones so far -- Democratic or Republican -- to have set one up. There's too much to go over here, but here are a few highlights in her words:

"Branded short code. 62262 spells 'Obama.' Hillary is using 77007 while John Edwards is has registered 30644. I couldn't figure out the significance of either. 30644 seems like it could be someone's birth date. 77007 has a lot of sevens so could be a lucky number. In any case, Barack is branding his short code, and it is unclear to me how the other two candidates derived theirs. Barack also uses his short code to link mobile subscribers to his mobile content offerings. He uses a single, branded short code for many purposes.

"Short key word. Barack uses 'Go' while Hillary uses 'Join' and John Edwards uses 'Today.' On your common 12-digit keypad, 'Go' is four clicks while 'Join' is nine clicks and 'today' is also nine clicks."
