New Apple Laptops Feature Touch TrackpadsIt's not like this is a major surprise, but it's still interesting to see the direction Apple is headed. Yesterday Apple announced some upgrades to their popular MacBook and MacBook Pro lines—mainly on the processor and hard disk front, while leaving the basic form factor and other features the same. But as CNET News reports, Apple also brought the gesture-recognition technology first introduced on the MacBook Air over to the new MacBook Pro systems: "The technology allows you to zoom in and out of pictures, for example, by using the same pinch-and-expand gesture used on the iPhone." These laptops, the report said, will likely ship in much larger volumes than the MacBook Air and introduce many more of Apple's customers to the idea of trackpad gesture recognition that was first introduced on the iPhone. Will we soon see touch-capable laptop screens in addition to cell phones?
