We usually stay away from how-to articles and related nitty-gritty when it comes to mobile devices and portable media gadgets. But we couldn't pass up this opportunity: Wired magazine just posted a short "how-to wiki" with tips on recording music. Normally, those are a dime a dozen on the Web, but here's the best part: you can do it using nothing but an iPod, a $55 Belkin accessory, a tiny mixer like this $40 model, and a couple of microphones.

The article states that "singer-songwriter Jimmy Camp recorded his entire Captain America album on his iPod." He recorded 10 tracks and submitted them to iTunes, start to finish, in three days using just this technique.

There's a difference between, say, someone playing a guitar and singing simultaneously, and creating a 100-track magnum opus on the order of Bohemian Rhapsody. For this to work, your tastes need to lean toward the former camp. That doesn't make it any less cool, though.
