At the 3GSM trade show in Barcelona, Spain, Sundance Institute and the GSM Association officially announced the first original made-for-mobile shorts completed as part of the new Sundance Film Festival Global Short Film Project. The independent directors involved have all shown work at Sundance in the past.

All indications are that this kind of thing will become a trend, now that video playback capability is trickling down from high-end handsets to mid-priced, garden variety cell phones.
