Google Gears Goes (Windows) MobileGoogle has made its Google Gears Web browser extension available for Windows Mobile devices. The software lets developers "write Web applications that run when the device is offline," Telecoms.com reports. Since mobile phones aren't always connected to the Internet, this makes them a good platform for Google Gears, according to Google Mobile product manager Charles Wiles. "You can create slick and responsive applications by hiding latency issues through controlled caching of data and storage information between sessions," he said in the article. The initial mobile software runs on Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices, but Google intends to eventually release versions that work with other mobile platforms, including, of course, its own Android platform.
