Microsoft Looks Forward with PlayReadyTechRadar.com spoke with Jim Alkove, the senior director of technical strategy in Microsoft's DRM group about what's happening with the company's PlayReady mobile DRM strategy. PlayReady-enabled mobile devices can play content that's protected with Windows Media DRM. One of its major benefits is that PlayReady works independently of other Microsoft technology, the article says. According to the report, PlayReady was developed to give content providers flexible options when it comes to selling and distributing their digital content. "PlayReady also enables a broad consumer choice of business model, things like subscription or purchase or rental," Alkove says in the article. "It's a very seamless experience which is something we've heard very strongly for consumers and from service providers that they desired in a content access technology." So far, Nokia is the only device maker that has signed on to support PlayReady, TechRadar says. Email This Post |
