Myxer Gives Away Ad Space To Promote Itself
Ad-supported mobile content provider Myxer is getting its brand out there in a rather ingenious way. The company, best known for its ringtone services, is giving $5,000 worth of free online advertising to 1,000 independent cell phone retail stores - that's a total of $5 million. In exchange for the advertising, the retailers just have to promote Myxer via in-store countertop displays. To get their share of this $5 Million Giveaway Campaign, the stores merely need to be one of the first 1,000 to sign up. No sweepstakes entries or photo essays shot with a camera phone necessary. So why is Myxer doing this? The idea behind the campaign, aside from promoting itself in all those stores, is to help boost data plan sales and "leverage the popularity of Myxer.com to help independent retailers and wireless carriers increase sales of data plans via ad-supported mobile content," says Myxer CEO Myk Willis. Since the campaign is for independent retailers, the ads will target each cell phone store's geographic area. Email This Post | ||||
