Sky Names Mobile GM and Ad Chief
UK pay-TV operator Sky is boosting its mobile operations. First, it promoted David Gibbs out of its commercial group to the position of general manager for mobile. It also hired Tim Hussain away from AOL and named him to the new position of head of mobile advertising.
In his prior role, Gibbs was one of the folks who developed Sky Mobile TV, Sky Anytime on Mobile and worked to syndicate content to mobile operators.
The company's Sky Mobile TV, which is offered through Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile, has some 30 channels of live and on-demand content. According to Mobile Entertainment, Sky Mobile TV has about 200,000 subscribers.
