torino.jpgLet's Overanalyze This [TVNewser]
Insiders are still buzzing about the news that Katie Couric won't be co-hosting the Opening Ceremonies alongside Bob Costas on Friday. NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, who flew to Italy yesterday, is taking her place.

Tuesdays With Carl [FishbowlNY]
Fishbowl is coming to you not-quite-live tonight with the play-by-play of this afternoon's Lazard Freres/Carl Icahn press conference held on the 20th floor of the St. Regis...

Behind the TWBG Deal: UK possibilities and fireworks galore! [Galleycat]
This is where it gets interesting: Ursula MacKenzie will join Hachette Livre UK's board and continue as TWBG UK CEO, but she will report to Tim Hely Hutchinson, who will additionally become deputy chairman of Hachette Livre USA and a director of the TWBG USA and UK companies. Oh Boy! Ombudsmen! [FishbowlDC]
Last night at the National Press Club, the Kalb Report (celebrating its 50th episode) convened the ombudsmen from The New York Times (Byron Calame), The Washington Post (Deborah Howell), PBS (Michael Getler, formerly the Post's ombudsman) and National Public Radio (Jeffrey Dvorkin) for a discussion on their roles within their respective news organizations and the state of newspapers generally.

Why Podcast? And Also, Why Not. [MBToolbox]
I think podcasting is where the line between my technical youth and old age was drawn. I thought I was pretty up to speed until podcasting came along, and suddenly I felt the way my Dad did when he was faced with setting up the family Tivo: confused, and annoyed with science in general.

Forget Balenciaga, the hot celebrity bag is Sean Preston [FishbowlLA]
Several photos published Tuesday showed Britney Spears driving her SUV with her son, Sean Preston, seated on her lap rather than strapped into a car seat in the back seat. Spears said she did it because of a "horrifying, frightful encounter with the paparazzi."

Playing Hookie with Creative Intelligence [Unbeige]
The perfect decorations, appropriate foods, and clever little details all contribute to the ultimate designed experience: a theme party. But the best theme party is one that happens right in the middle of the day, on a beautiful 80-degree afternoon, and you're going to the beach to look at art.
