cnn_angelina_anderson.jpgThe New CNN: Anderson-Angelina [TVNewser]
Scott Collins: "The Jolie interview does seem a watershed moment in the history of CNN, though, or maybe in the history of celebrity journalism. For years the network was derided as stodgy and out of it, as Grandpa's video wire service. The Anderson-Angelina meeting of minds does seem to whisper goodbye to all that. This is like ABC making Barbara Walters co-anchor in the 1970s, or CBS launching the yuppie newsmag 'West 57th' — a deliberate break with the past." FBNY: Forbes becomes latest media outlet to succumb to the Angelina "exclusive" trap.

Porn Mags Quietly Go Digital [FishbowlNY]
With Penthouse and Playboy making concerted efforts to legitimize their content beyond the centerfold to gear and gadgets, it's not surprising that part of this push has involved digital offerings. Digital magazine publisher Zinio has quietly launched something called Undercovermags.com, a one-stop shop for such titles as Penthouse, Swank and Celebrity Sleuth. But why is Zinio being so quiet about it?

Moonves Eyes The Sure-Thing Movie Business [FishbowlLA]
Now that daddy Viacom moved out of the house with bratty sister Paramount, CBS Corp. is feeling bold in its new freedom, walking around the house in its underwear and moving into the faux-wood-paneled basement. We hear CEO Les Moonves is contemplating making six to eight low-budget movies a year "in a risk-free way."

Special Report: Lou Dobbs, Latino Media Clash At NAHJ Convention [FishbowlNY]
At the 24th annual National Association of Hispanic Journalists Convention, held last week in Fort Lauderdale, the overwhelming talk was of the hot-button immigration issue. CNN's Lou Dobbs, who has become an unlikely figurehead in the debate, was there, as was New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and hundreds of Hispanic journalists who convened at the three-day event. Mariela Dabbah delivered a series of special dispatches for FishbowlNY.

Thanks, We're Not Interested [GalleyCat]
Michael Levy said that when he heard William Morris is partnering with Starbucks to select books that could be marketed and distributed in all those coffee shops, he submitted some of his books for consideration — and was told quite promptly that Ultra-Violet Haiku Delights and The Joy of Live Alchemy didn't really suit their needs. The only problem? The books clearly, to Levy's eyes, hadn't even been opened.

What Is A Ghostwriter? [MBToolbox]
For those of you new to the scariest writing game of all, here's a very down-to-the-basics article by Gary McLaren on what exactly a ghostwriter is and what it does. Those of you in the know, just put your head down on your desks until we move on to our next subject.

Wemple Speaks [FishbowlDC]
Washington City Paper editor Erik Wemple fielded some questions from FishbowlDC regarding his recent move to and from the Village Voice. Wemple: "The reason I didn't make it up there was that the Village Voice Media people and I couldn't come to terms over managing the newsroom."
