Here's what's happening in our (increasingly Quixotic?) quest to get FishbowlDC's Garrett Graff a White House press gaggle day pass that any legitimate news organization should be able to get, according to Scott McClellan. After much calling and some faxing to a number the White House Office of Media Affairs successfully avoided giving us, we were informed late yesterday that the White House told a USA Today reporter that Garrett was cleared to come in today. Somewhat hilariously, they failed to inform Garrett (or me) of that. (UPDATE and clarification: We originally thought that they told the reporter that Garrett was cleared for a gaggle today, which seemed odd, because there wasn't one. Now we're told that the WH said Garrett was cleared to come in today. At any rate, they didn't inform us of that, either.)

In a potentially related development (we're not sure yet), someone Garrett emailed in a different department responded and said she could probably get him a day pass for sometime next week if he submitted the required vitals. We'll see what happens.
