Kate Nitze of MacAdam/Cage: Also, this may be a bit dated, but I often hear "editors don't edit" and "no one buys fiction anymore." Whether these are trends, paranoia, or empty catchphrases, I'm not sure, but I will say that the editors at MacAdam/Cage are fortunate enough to have the time and to be encouraged to edit and work closely with authors. And we hope and believe people still care about good fiction, because without that, we're doomed.
