Listen: Interview With The Most Interesting Travel Writer
John Higham is an aeronautical engineer (a rocket scientist, if you will). He and his wife had a dream; once their two kids were old enough, take a year off and travel the world. How good does that sound right now? The trip was 13 years in the making that's how long it took to save the money they'd need. And once the trip was set, they took off. Now that he's back, Higham has written a book detailing the family's travels. Google Earth played a large part in sharing the story, as Higham used it to show readers locations and images he took while in various parts of the world. This interactive adventure spans 52 weeks, a broken leg, and a battle with a Unimog. Go travel somewhere, or read Higham's book, "360 Degrees Longitude", half of the proceeds for which go to support the micro-lending organization Kiva. The show was hosted by GalleyCat editor Jason Boog and AgencySpy editor Matt Van Hoven. You can listen to all the past podcasts archived at mediabistro.com or download episodes for free on iTunes.
