"Hi Princeton! Remember me?" the parody began. "I so good at math and science. Perfect 2400 SAT score. Ring bells? Just in cases, let me refresh your memories. I the super smart Asian. 'China's Google' To Do News (Reuters)
Chinese Internet search leader Baidu won approval to become an online news portal, government and industry sources said on Tuesday, heating up a rivalry in the world's second-largest Web market. China's State Council Information Office (SCIO), granted Baidu an Internet news content service licence last week, a government source said, allowing Baidu.com Inc. to do its own reporting rather than simply show news search results at present.

Should chief executives blog? The late adopters had better decide soon, because the World Economic Forum is encouraging blogging by bigwigs as part of its annual meeting this week in Davos, Switzerland. Some 800 chief executives or chairmen will be there among 2,400 attendees when the talking starts in earnest on January 24th.
Lapham's 'Indelible Mark' on Harper's (Mediaweek)
Under the left-leaning Lewis Lapham, some say Harper's has been unpredictable ideologically. Slate media critic Jack Shafer said that the journal used to publish pieces that were varied politically, but lately, it is more uniform. "It had become a magazine that was preaching to a congregation," he said. Lapham is fond of saying that the country has shifted right, making him appear more leftist.

Troy Patterson: What if the fourth hour of the show is a success? Will there be a fifth hour? A ninth? How about a 24-hour news channel? Call it "Today Forever," a network devoted to helping women across all demographics soothe their harried souls.
