1856.jpgSAG Awards: Primetime TV Winners (B&C)
Ratings-challenged NBC comedy 30 Rock got another boost Sunday night as Alec Baldwin nabbed male actor in a comedy series honors at the 13th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which also brought good news for shows including The Office, Grey's Anatomy, House, and Ugly Betty.

New Tribune Deal in the Works (Chicago Tribune)
Having concluded that the offers that were tendered undervalued the company, Tribune Co.'s top management team is talking with private-equity companies about crafting a new deal to restructure and has likely begun discussing its ideas with the company's special board committee, sources said.

SF Chron Posting Reporters', Editors' Voice Mail Messages Online (NYT)
Putting voice mail messages from readers online was the idea of Phil Bronstein, the vice president and editor of the paper. "This is about listening to your readers," he said. "Newspapers used to be a lot more lively than they are now, and they could definitely stand some of that." If readers respond well, he added, the paper might add "dramatic readings" of some of the letters that come in.

A Struggle to Find A New Voice (NYP)
New Village Voice editor David Blum is having trouble finding columnists to fill the pages of the alt-weekly. Blum told the Post that he's met with people but has "yet to find somebody that I'm ready to offer the job to." Those rumored to have met with Blum include New York magazine's Jesse Oxfeld, the New York Observer's Michael Calderone and the Huff Po's Rachel Sklar.

Maucker of Sun-Sentinel Named E&P's 'Editor of the Year' (E&P)
Editor and Publisher has selected Earl Maucker, editor and senior vice president of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel as its 'Editor of the Year.' The growing newspaper garnered three finalist spots for 2006 Pulitzer Prizes.

Politico Not Yet A Notch Above (WaPo)
Howard Kurtz: For all the pregame hype about voice and attitude and peeling back the curtain of traditional journalism, the Politico debuted last week by relying on an old-fashioned concept: reporting. It strikes me as solid and substantive, but not knocking anyone's socks off.

News Corp. Reshuffles Editors as Myler Leaves New York Post for London (NYDN)
Colin Myler was named editor of the News of the World, also owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., after his predecessor resigned amid a royal phone-tapping scandal. His abrupt departure from New York hastened a flurry of changes in the Post newsroom. Metropolitan editor Jesse Angelo was promoted to managing editor, and business editor Dan Colarusso was tapped to replace him.

The Secret Climbs the Charts (WSJ)
Take some fairly standard self-help advice. Add Da Vinci Code-style mysticism and conspiracy theory, and a dose of Hollywood. Use word-of-mouth and the Web to bypass traditional film marketing, and get stars to join in for free. The result is The Secret, which is emerging as one of the year's most successful multimedia franchises — and shaking up the self-help category.

Veteran Journalist Smith to Take Over Examiner (WaPo)
Why is Stephen G. Smith leaving his latest job as head of the Houston Chronicle's Washington bureau to take over the two-year-old tabloid Examiner, which has a staff of 55 and is given away free? "I think the Examiner represents a new model of newspapering that really reflects how people want their papers organized, what sort of content they want and how they want [the papers] delivered."
