A year ago, Chris Albrecht was on the receiving end of a very public dismissal from a very lofty perch in the entertainment world. Now, Albrecht is trying for a comeback. And he's staking much of it on a bizarre, futuristic sport called SlamBall, which failed to break out in an earlier debut.
Washington Post Staffer Fired For Profane Sports Blogging (E&P)
A Washington Post staffer who had been blogging at a sports-themed Web site apparently lost his job after editors came across some profane-laden postings that also identified him as a Post scribe. Michael Tunison, who blogged under the name "Christmas Ape" at the "Kissing Suzy Kolber" site, wrote on Wednesday that he had been fired for "bringing discredit to the paper."
George Lois' Esquire Covers to Go on Display at MoMA (Folio:)
George Lois the legendary art director whose iconic 1960s Esquire covers influenced a generation of magazine designers is getting his due in the art world. Lois' work for Esquire is set to go on display at New York's Museum of Modern Art later this month. The show, "George Lois: The Esquire Covers," is scheduled to run from April 25 to March 31, 2009.
