Twitter CEO: Ads Will Be Rolled Out To 50 Countries This Year (AllTwitter)
At the Cannes advertising festival, Twitter's CEO Dick Costolo told audiences that Twitter will aggressively expand its advertising products to 50 countries worldwide by the end of 2012. The Guardian Latin America, particularly Brazil, and west European countries such as Spain and Germany will be the first to get Twitter's three advertising products -- promoted tweets, promoted trends and promoted accounts.

Louisiana Sex Offenders Must List Status on Social Media Profile (Daily Intel)
Thanks to a new law in Louisiana, social networking sites may need to add a new field to users' profiles that lets them declare whether or not they're registered sex offenders. As of August 1, the online profiles of sex offenders and child predators in the state must list "notice of the crime for which he was convicted, the jurisdiction of conviction, a description of his physical characteristics... and his residential address."
