Jack Welch Among Businessmen Considering Bid for Globe? (BoGlo)
Two of Boston's best-known businessmen retired General Electric Co. chief executive Jack Welch and adman Jack Connors are quietly exploring the possibility of making an offer to buy the Boston Globe from The New York Times Co. The company has said repeatedly that the paper, despite its continued poor financial results, is not for sale.
Second Suspect Is Convicted in Murder of Times Reporter (NYT)
The second of two men accused of killing a retired reporter for the New York Times in January was convicted on Tuesday of murder, robbery and other charges that could put him in prison for the rest of his life.
ABC: NY Post Overstated '05 Weekly Circ by 1.5M (NYDN)
A review by the Audit Bureau of Circulations also caught the Post trying to claim thousands more out-of-region copies as having been sold in the immediate metropolitan area. The Post improperly claimed an average 6,303 extra copies for each weekday nearly 1 percent of its total circulation, according to the audit for the 12-month period ending Sept. 30, 2005.
