News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch said Tuesday he intends to make access to The Wall Street Journal's Web site free, trading subscription fees for anticipated ad revenue. They will help pick the team and decide who to buy on the transfer market.

That's another way to say what I've said other ways: Do what we do best and link to the rest. Also: We need to gather more and produce less, so we also need to encourage others to produce more so we can gather it. That's a festival of PowerPoint lines there.
SF Chron BALCO Scandal Reporter to ESPN (Marketwatch)
ESPN is set to hire one of the San Francisco Chronicle reporters who broke the Balco steroids scandal, marking the sports network's latest move to deepen its roster of journalists who honed their skills in the print world. Will House & Garden Be Remembered as the Condé Nast Punching Bag? (MIN)
In retrospect, however, House & Garden's second fate was sealed with president Steve Florio's January 2003 dismissal of publisher Brenda Saget Darling. The Elle Décor alumna was highly respected in the design marketplace and put the monthly over 1,000 ad pages in 2000-2002. Not good enough for Florio, who replaced her with Lori Burgess,
