The Devil Wears Sweatpants (Radar)
Rosie O'Donnell looms large in Little Pink Slips, a novel by Sally Koslow. The book draws heavily from Koslow's experience of being pushed aside as EIC of McCall's to make room for the magazine's reinvention under O'Donnell. Koslow seems to particularly relish noting Blake's "well-fed face," "lady wrestler legs" and "boots that looked compromised trying to support her."
Could a 'Them-Tube' Work? (Forbes)
Louis Hau: A joint venture among several major TV networks, designed to compete with Google's YouTube, exists only in theory. For argument's sake, say these media titans do somehow figure out how to get together and create their own video portal. Would they have a chance at competing with YouTube? Maybe. YouTube is huge, but it's not yet invincible.
The Lobbyist as Reporter (Slate)
Lobbyists, who usually work the back alleys of power to advance or stall legislation, are increasingly shaking down members of Congress and their staffs for potentially market-moving information, the piece reports. What political intel units do seems indistinguishable from what newspaper reporters do, except that their wealthy clients pay much more and fewer readers get to see their product.
