Job Requirements Responsibilities include:
Web:
Conceptualize, design and develop web sites, site-lets and promotional web pages for asla.org;
Working with team members in maintaining interactive standards for design and usability for asla.org and enforce accountability when standards are not met;
Coordinate posting of web content with web manager and staff;
Create and contribute to documentation (content/site maps, wireframes, functional design specifications);
Develops recommendations to improve site usability and developing online brand;
Serves as liaison with external web consultant.
Print:
Uses advanced knowledge of typography, layout, illustration and other graphic design skills to develop a range of briefs, pamphlets, button and other materials in support of specific initiatives;
Work with internal business units – membership, advocacy, professional practice and chapter marketing teams on the design and development of print material;
Coordinate with outside vendors for all print production

Branding:
Maintains the ASLA brand as it refers to specific campaigns, print collateral and websites;
Create and maintain visual identities, including logos for specific business units and campaigns.

Education and Skills required: Bachelor of Arts/Fines Arts in design; or equivalent experience;
Interactive agency or design firm experience a plus; high level proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and Dreamweaver – Flash experience a plus. Able to modify, maintain and develop in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Experience with Ektron or other major content management systems desired, as well as experience with Wordpress. Ability to balance heavy workload with short- and long-term deadlines.

About Our Company The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) seeks to design a more sustainable, livable, and beautiful world. Landscape architects create city master plans, design ecosystems, develop innovative park projects like the High Line in New York City, roll out bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, and renew residential landscapes. ASLA represents some 16,000 landscape architects in the U.S. and around the world.

The majority of ASLA members, nearly 80 percent, work in private practice; 12 percent in the public sector; and 5 percent are fulltime educators. The remaining members are employed by private developers or work in other specialized fields.

ASLA is conveniently located in downtown Washington, DC, one block north of the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro Station on the Red, Yellow, and Green Lines, and has a staff of 43 and offers an comprehensive employee benefits package.
